Rungle is a daily word ladder: two ordinary words, connected one letter at a time. A familiar word can open an unexpected route. Sometimes the way forward starts with a detour.

There are two puzzles a day, for four and five letters. Everyone sees the same pair in each mode on the same UTC date. Play at your own pace, with no account and no clock to beat.

Carefully connected

Daily pairs are selected from a common-word vocabulary. Before a puzzle reaches the schedule, a breadth-first search verifies a solution and the shortest distance in the accepted dictionary. A route using common words must also exist.

Hints use the same mathematical search from your current position. There’s no AI service behind them and no remote dictionary lookup while you play.

The bundled word list is derived from Wordnik’s open wordlist under the MIT licence, with a reviewed subset for this game. Literata, our heading typeface, is used under the SIL Open Font License. Read the source and licence details.
